What the Tusk Quiet-Glide skid plate does
The Tusk Quiet-Glide UHMW Skid Plate 3/8 in armors the underside of a Kawasaki Teryx from front to back, with hardware and instructions in the box. UHMW is the reason to pick it over metal. The surface is slick, so the machine glides over a rock shelf instead of catching on it, the material is virtually unbreakable, and it runs quieter than aluminum when you drag it. That is why the kit costs about $600 and why the 3/8 inch thickness is worth it if you ride rock. If the Teryx is your machine, the Kawasaki Teryx hub has the rest of what fits, and our trail riding guide covers what to armor first.
For every other machine, the honest move is to look one level up. Rock sliders cover the rocker panels, bumpers and brush guards cover the nose and tail, and the full protection category is where new skid plate kits will land as the lineup grows.
From MaxtOffroad
If you own a Teryx and ride rock, this is the plate. 3/8 inch UHMW that glides instead of snags, full front-to-back coverage, and a quieter ride than aluminum, which matters more than it sounds after an hour on a shelf. We would rather list one right kit than pad this page with plates we cannot back.
Frequently asked questions
Is a UHMW skid plate better than aluminum?
For rock, the Tusk listing makes the case: the slick plastic glides over rocks instead of snagging, it is virtually unbreakable, and it runs quieter than aluminum. The trade is thickness, and this plate is a full 3/8 inch.
Do you have UTV skid plates for the Polaris RZR or Can-Am Defender?
Not yet. The only skid plate you can order today is the Tusk Quiet-Glide for the Kawasaki Teryx. For other machines, start with rock sliders and bumpers in the protection category, and check back as the lineup grows.
