How to choose a UTV roof
Three things drive the decision.
Soft, hard plastic, tinted polycarbonate, or aluminum. Soft roofs are PVC coated oxford, waterproof, and tie down to the roll bar frame with straps. They are the light and cheap route. The Kemimoto hard plastic tops are molded polypropylene or polyethylene in two to five pieces, with foam or sponge sealed seams. SuperATV's plastic roofs for the full-size Ranger come as a standard two piece 3/16 inch roof or a deluxe molded 1/4 inch roof. SuperATV's tinted roofs are 1/4 inch polycarbonate, most with sealed edges, and some RZR models offer a light tint with a hard coating. Aluminum roofs are the stiffest and heaviest, from 0.079 inch powder coated sheet to a one-piece 2mm stamping.
Weight and handling. The Kemimoto Hard Roof for Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 & More comes in under 19 pounds. The Tusk aluminum roofs run about 35 to 44 pounds. Multi-piece designs matter here. The Kemimoto 4-Piece Hard Roof for Polaris Ranger Crew XP 1000 is built so each panel is light enough to fit or pull on your own, and the two piece Kemimoto aluminum roofs are easier to handle than a single panel and store flat in the off season.
Windshield clearance. If you run a windshield, check that the roof clears it. The 3-in-1 Hard Top Roof for Polaris RZR XP 1000 and the 5-in-1 hard roof for the XP 4 both say they clear any windshield, and the Tusk Profile Aluminum Roof is built to pair with Tusk windshields. SuperATV lists its deluxe plastic roofs and the Ranger XP 570 plastic roof as working with most windshields and mirrors.

Polaris RZR roofs
Two seat XP 1000 owners on a 2024 or 2025 machine get the 3-in-1 Hard Top Roof for Polaris RZR XP 1000, which bolts to the holes already in the cage. Four seat XP 4 1000 buyers have the widest choice: the under-19-pound hard roof, the 4-in-1 Sport Roof, the 5-in-1 hard roof for 2024 to 2025, and the Kemimoto Aluminum Roof for Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 2024-2025. Pro XP 4 and Turbo R 4 machines get a two piece Kemimoto aluminum roof or the Tusk UTV Force Aluminum Roof. Narrow body RZR Trail and Trail S run the Kemimoto Combination Roof. On the soft side there is a canvas roof for the RZR PRO R, one for the RZR 570 and more, and the Tusk UTV Fabric Roof for the 570, 800, and XP 900. Can-Am Maverick, Defender, and Commander roofs
The two-door X3 gets the one-piece Aluminum Roof for Can-Am Maverick X3 or a 900D oxford soft top. The X3 MAX has a canvas roof with a tinted skylight, and the Maverick R has its own 0.079 inch aluminum roof shaped to the body line. Maverick Trail, Maverick Sport, and Commander share the Kemimoto Upgraded Hard Roof, a two piece polypropylene top with added brackets that hold it down at speed. Polaris Ranger and Kawasaki Teryx roofs
Ranger Crew XP 1000 owners can pick the Kemimoto four piece hard top, the Kemimoto Tinted Canvas Roof, which shades both rows with a tinted front window that blocks 99.5 percent of UV, or SuperATV's 2mm aluminum roof. SuperATV covers more of the Ranger line: 2mm aluminum roofs for the XP 570, 1000 Crew, and 1000 Diesel Crew, plastic roofs for the full-size 500, 570, XP 800, and 900 Diesel and a molded 6mm roof for the XP 570, and tinted polycarbonate roofs for the Ranger 150 and the Ranger XP 570, XP 900, XP 1000, and 1000 Diesel. Roof racks and what to know before you order
Tusk lists four racks in this category, and SuperATV adds its Outfitter Roof Racks for the Polaris Ranger. The two Tusk Roof Top UTV Cargo Racks, one for the RZR and one for the KRX 1000, weigh about four pounds and add a flat platform for coolers and dry bags. The Tusk Adventure Roof Rack for the four seat Pro S 4, Pro XP 4, and Turbo R 4 is a heavier platform at roughly 25 pounds, sold as the rack only or with a Tusk V2 curved 30 inch light bar. The SuperATV Outfitter racks, for the Ranger XP 570, XP 900, 1000, XP 1000, the Crew models, and the XD 1500 and XD 1500 Crew, are powder coated aluminum and steel tube on heavy-duty clamps and brackets, rated 600 lb static and 200 lb dynamic, with a light bar mount and four spots for recessed cube lights. - Year ranges are real. Several roofs name 2024 to 2025 models. The Tusk UTV Force Aluminum Roof listing says outright to match your year to the fitment list before ordering.
- Drilling. Most of the Kemimoto roofs and the Tusk fabric roof install with no drilling. The X3 aluminum roof latches down without drilling or tools.
- Noise. Aluminum on a cage can rattle. The Kemimoto aluminum roofs use rubber pads or a rubber buffer strip to quiet the contact and knock down heat.
- Roof only. Some Tusk listings are the roof alone, with no rack or light bar. Read the title.

For a two-door Maverick X3, the Aluminum Roof for Can-Am Maverick X3 is the one. It is a single 2mm aluminum stamping with no seams, and no seams means nothing to leak, which is the whole point of a roof. Rubber pads quiet the cage contact and it latches down without drilling or tools. It is not the cheap option, but it is the one you buy once.

Pick aluminum if branches and hard use are the norm, plastic if weight and price matter more.
Will a UTV roof fit with a windshield?
Check the listing. The 3-in-1 Hard Top Roof for Polaris RZR XP 1000 and the Kemimoto 5-in-1 Hard Roof for Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 both say they clear any windshield, and the Tusk Profile Aluminum Roof for Kawasaki Teryx KRX4 1000 is built to pair with Tusk windshields to close in the cab.
Do UTV roofs need drilling?
Many do not. The soft roofs strap on with no tools, the Kemimoto aluminum roofs for the Maverick R and X3 need no drilling, the Ranger Crew hard top is no drilling, and the 3-in-1 RZR XP 1000 roof bolts to holes already in the cage.
