Seat Covers

UTV seat covers keep mud, rain, sun, and dog claws off the factory foam, and they are the cheapest way to make a tired cab look right again. This category has 17 options, all from Kemimoto, and every one is cut for a specific seat rather than stretched over whatever you have. The lineup covers the Polaris Ranger XP 1000 and Crew, RZR XP 1000, General 1000, Can-Am Defender and Defender MAX, and the Kawasaki Mule.

Picking is simple. Match the cover to your exact seat shape first, then choose between water-resistant 1680D oxford, a camo print, or a faux leather face. Most sets run $50 to $140, with the full Defender MAX set at about $190.

How to choose UTV seat covers

Seat shape first. Every set here is cut for one seat design, and that is what keeps it from sagging or creeping on rough trail. The Ranger XP 1000 alone has two shapes in the lineup: the split bench, which takes a six-piece set, and the wing-back bolstered seat, which needs the Wingback Seat Cover Set for Polaris Ranger XP 1000. The RZR uses bucket pairs, the Defender uses an eight-piece split bench set with the center seat included, and the Mule is a plain bench.

Then the face fabric. 1680D oxford is the workhorse. It is water resistant, scratch resistant, and wipes clean, and it shows up on most of the Ranger, RZR, General, and Defender sets. Some of those are neoprene backed, and the Ranger wingback sets add a PVC waterproof layer on top. The Mule sets use a lighter 900D oxford. Camo is the same oxford in a print. Faux leather is the third option: the Ranger XP 1000 leather set adds a thick cushion layer, and the Defender leather split bench set pairs a UV and tear resistant face with composite cotton behind it for comfort.

Then what is in the box. Some sets include headrest covers, some add zippered pockets, and the Ranger Crew sets are laid out so the driver's seat still slides.

Polaris Ranger seat covers

Seven options, the deepest bench in the category. For the XP 1000 split bench you can order the six-piece black set, the camo version, or the leather set with pockets, all in the $80 to $100 range. Wingback seats get their own cut at about $91 for the two-seat XP 1000 and about $140 for the six-seat Crew. The Crew also has a front and rear oxford set and a camo set with headrest covers. See the Polaris Ranger hub for everything else that fits.

Polaris RZR and General

Two RZR pairs, both 1680D: the Seat Covers with Pocket for Polaris RZR XP 1000, Turbo & RS1 at about $70, with a zippered side pocket on each cushion, and a gray water-resistant pair for the XP 1000 and Turbo at about $76 that the maker rates as tough enough for pet claws. The General 1000 and XP 1000 get a neoprene-backed 1680D pair with gray stitching at about $100.

Can-Am Defender seat covers

Five options across the HD5 to HD10 bench and the Defender MAX. The plain eight-piece set is about $80, the camo version about $90, and the leather split bench about $100. Defender MAX owners get both rows covered with the Water-Repellent Seat Cover Set for Can-Am Defender MAX at about $191 or the camo MAX set for HD7 to HD10 at about $131. More in the Can-Am Defender hub and our Defender accessories guide.

Kawasaki Mule

Two bench covers. The camo set for the Mule 610 and 600 is about $50 and covers cushion and backrest. The Bench Seat Cover for Kawasaki Mule PRO-FXT, DXT, FX & DX is about $57 and covers one bench, front or rear, so count your rows. Both use 900D oxford.

A few details that catch people. Water resistant, water repellent, and PVC coated are three different things in this lineup, and the product page says which you are getting. The 1680D oxford sheds water and wipes clean; the Ranger wingback sets and the Mule camo set add a PVC layer; the Defender MAX black set is listed as water repellent.

Piece counts matter on the bench sets. Six pieces for the Ranger XP 1000 split bench, eight for the Defender, and the Crew and MAX sets cover both rows. The Defender MAX black set is listed for standard seats, so if you have swapped seats, check the shape. Most sets attach with hook-and-loop fasteners and an elastic hem, the Ranger leather set stretches on with four-sided elastic instead, and the Defender leather set specifically calls out a no-tools install. The rest of the cab gear, from grab handles to organizers, is one level up in accessories.

From MaxtOffroad

If you drive a Ranger XP 1000 with the bolstered wingback seats, order the wingback set and not a split bench set. It is cut for that exact shape so it does not sag or creep on rough trail, which is the one complaint every universal cover earns. The 1680D oxford carries a PVC coating, and both bottom covers get a zip pocket, so it is the one we point Ranger owners to first.

Frequently asked questions

Are these UTV seat covers waterproof?

Most are listed as water resistant, meaning the 1680D or 900D oxford sheds water and wipes clean after a wet run. The Ranger XP 1000 and Crew wingback sets and the Mule 610 camo set add a PVC coating on top of that, and the Defender MAX black set is listed as water repellent.

Do the sets cover both rows on a Ranger Crew or Defender MAX?

Yes, when the listing says Crew or MAX. The Ranger Crew XP 1000 wingback set covers all six seats, the Crew front and rear set and Crew camo set cover both rows, and both Defender MAX sets cover both rows with headrests. The XP 1000 sets without Crew in the name are front row only, and the Mule PRO bench cover is one bench, so order one per row.

Which Can-Am Defender seat covers fit my HD model?

The black eight-piece set and the camo eight-piece set are both listed for the Defender HD5 through HD10 bench. The camo MAX set is listed for the Defender MAX HD7 through HD10, and the water-repellent MAX set for the Defender MAX on standard seats. The leather split bench set is listed for the Defender bench without an HD callout, so match it to your seat shape on the product page.

Do I need tools to install UTV seat covers?

No set in this category lists tools. The oxford and camo sets pull tight with hook-and-loop fasteners and an elastic hem, the Ranger XP 1000 leather set stretches on with four-sided elastic, and the Defender leather set is called out as a no-tools install.

Will the driver's seat still slide with covers on?

On the Ranger Crew XP 1000 front and rear set and the Crew camo set, yes. Both are laid out up front so the driver's seat keeps sliding freely. The other sets do not call this out either way, so check the product page for your machine.
