Overview
This is SuperATV’s 4500 lb. Black Ops winch, sold as a complete kit for a UTV. It is the tool for the day the machine is sitting in a ditch or wedged between rocks and nobody is around to pull you out. It runs synthetic rope, has automatic brakes, and can be worked from the dash or from a wireless remote.
Which machines it fits
This winch is not cut for one machine. SuperATV says it fits most bumpers or winch mounts with a 3.0 x 6.6 inch (76 x 168 mm) mounting bolt pattern. It does not bolt straight to a UTV: it requires a machine-specific mounting plate or a winch ready bumper, and that part is sold separately. Check the bolt pattern on the plate or bumper you plan to use before you order.
If you have a Polaris Ranger 1000, the Ready-Fit winch for the Ranger 1000 comes already mounted and wired on its own mount.
Is 4500 lb. enough for your machine
The usual rule of thumb is a winch rated for about one and a half times the loaded weight of the machine, counting passengers, cargo and accessories, not the dry weight on the spec sheet. Deep mud adds a lot of drag on top of that, so riders who spend their time in mud holes tend to size up. If your machine is a heavy four seater or you want that extra margin, look at the 6000 lb. winch instead.
All of our winches are in UTV winches.

Installation
There are two halves to the job. The mechanical half is bolting the winch and fairlead to your plate or bumper. The electrical half is mounting the solenoid, running the supplied wiring to power, and fitting the dash switch and the remote receiver. SuperATV calls it straightforward once you have a compatible plate or bumper, and supplies instructions. Disconnect the battery before you wire anything, and keep the cables away from heat and moving parts.
FAQs
What does the Auto-Stop Fairlead Kit do?
It is the one option on this listing. SuperATV says it replaces your fairlead and automatically stops the winch from winding in too far, and that it is plug and play. Winding the hook hard into the fairlead is one of the common ways people damage a winch, so it is worth a look if more than one person runs your machine.
Why synthetic rope and not steel cable?
SuperATV's case for it: synthetic rope is flexible, does not kink or rust, and has no frayed wire strands to cut your hands, and they describe it as just as strong as steel cable. The trade is that synthetic rope wears from abrasion and long sun exposure, so rinse the grit out of it, keep it off sharp edges and look it over after a hard pull.
Can I use it with a plow?
SuperATV's feature list describes it as suited to plowing and recovering. The plow and its mount are separate parts.
Does it hold on a hill?
SuperATV says the automatic brake holds the spool on hills to prevent rollback.
Do I need anything else to mount it?
Yes. A mounting plate made for your machine or a winch ready bumper with the 3.0 x 6.6 inch bolt pattern. Neither is included.
