Overview

Fitting a winch normally means buying a winch, finding the right plate, bolting the two together and wiring the lot. SuperATV’s Ready-Fit winch for the Polaris Ranger 1000 does that part before it leaves them: the winch arrives mounted on a mount made for the Ranger 1000 and already wired.

Which Ranger it fits

  • Ranger 1000, 2020 and newer
  • Ranger 1000 Crew, 2020 and newer
  • Ranger 1000 Waterfowl Edition Crew, 2021 and newer
  • Ranger 1000 Big Game Edition Crew, 2021 and newer

That is the whole list. The Ranger XP 1000 is a different model and is not listed for this kit, and neither are Ranger 1000 machines before 2020. If you are not sure which one you have, check the model name on your registration or the fitment chart on this page before you order.

4500 lb. or 6000 lb.

Both sizes come on the same Ready-Fit mount with the same rope length, remote and switch. The difference SuperATV lists is the motor: 1.3 HP on the 4500 lb. winch and 1.9 HP on the 6000 lb. winch. The usual rule of thumb is a winch rated for about one and a half times the loaded weight of the machine. A Ranger is a work machine that often carries a full bed, and a Crew adds a second row of people, so if yours runs loaded, in deep mud or with a plow up front, the 6000 lb. winch gives you more margin.

All of our winches are in UTV winches. More parts for this machine: Polaris Ranger accessories.

Tech Specs

Motor Permanent magnet DC, 12V. 1.3 HP on the 4500 lb. winch, 1.9 HP on the 6000 lb. winch
Rope 50 feet of synthetic rope
Fairlead Aluminum hawse fairlead, 6.0 inch (152.4 mm), with a fairlead support bracket

Installation

SuperATV describes this as plug and play: bolt the mount in with four bolts and plug the wiring into the Ranger's bus bar. The winch, fairlead and wiring are already put together, so there is no plate to match up and no harness to build. You still fit the dash rocker switch and find a spot for the wireless receiver, and it is worth checking every factory-assembled connection is tight before the first pull.

FAQs

Do I need to buy a winch plate?

No. The mount is part of the kit and the winch is already on it.

Will it fit a Ranger XP 1000?

The Ranger XP 1000 is not on the fitment list for this kit. It is listed for the Ranger 1000 models above.

Is it weather sealed?

SuperATV describes the winch case and wiring as water-resistant, the solenoid as waterproof and the wireless receiver as water-resistant.

Why synthetic rope?

SuperATV's reasons are that steel cable is heavy, stiff, kinks, corrodes and can cut bare hands, and that synthetic rope is just as strong without those problems. Synthetic rope does wear from abrasion, so rinse the grit out and keep it off sharp edges.

Can I buy just the winch?

Yes. The winches are listed on their own for use with a separate plate or bumper: the 4500 lb. winch and the 6000 lb. winch.
