Overview
This is the bigger of SuperATV’s two Black Ops winches, rated at 6000 lb. SuperATV aims it at heavy UTVs and four seat machines, and at riders who regularly end up in deep mud, rocks or steep ground. It comes as a complete kit with synthetic rope, automatic brakes and two ways to run it.
Which machines it fits
It is a universal winch. SuperATV says it fits most bumpers or winch mounts with a 3.0 x 6.6 inch (76 x 168 mm) mounting bolt pattern, and that it requires a machine-specific mounting plate or a winch ready bumper, sold separately. So the fit question is really about your plate or bumper: confirm it has that bolt pattern and that it has room for a winch this size, using the dimensions above.
Ranger 1000 owners can skip the plate hunt: the Ready-Fit winch for the Polaris Ranger 1000 is sold with this size winch already mounted and wired.
Do you need 6000 lb.
A common rule of thumb is a winch rated for about one and a half times the loaded weight of the machine, with people, cargo and accessories counted. Mud suction and a steep pull both add to the load, which is why owners of crew machines and heavy utility rigs lean toward the bigger winch. SuperATV says this one gives significantly more pulling power than winches in the 3500 to 4500 lb. range. On a lighter two seater that mostly sees trail use, the 4500 lb. winch may be all you need.
All of our winches are in UTV winches.

Installation
Bolt the winch and the fairlead to your mounting plate or bumper, mount the solenoid somewhere protected, then run the harness to power and fit the dash rocker switch and the wireless receiver. SuperATV describes the harness as color-coded and says instructions can be downloaded, with customer support behind them. Work with the battery disconnected, and spool the rope on under light tension the first time so the wraps sit tight and even.
FAQs
Can I add the Auto-Stop Fairlead Kit?
Yes, it is the option on this listing. SuperATV says the kit replaces your fairlead, automatically stops the winch before the rope winds in too far, and installs as a plug and play part.
Is it built for mud and water?
SuperATV describes the winch as built to be water resistant, with a waterproof solenoid and a water-resistant wireless receiver. After a wet, muddy ride it still pays to pull the rope out, rinse it and let it dry before you spool it back in.
Why does it use synthetic rope?
SuperATV's reasons: it bends without kinking, it does not rust or corrode, and it has no frayed wires to cut you. They rate it as the same strength as steel cable. Synthetic rope does wear from abrasion and sun, so keep it off sharp rock edges and check it after hard pulls.
How far away can I stand with the remote?
SuperATV lists the wireless remote at up to 50 feet, which lets you stand clear of the machine and the rope during a pull.
Does it come with a mounting plate?
No. The plate or winch ready bumper for your machine is a separate part.
